Ear Surgery Otoplasty
Cosmetic Ear Surgery
The human ear is one of the first facial features to develop in utero, from six different ear parts. Differences in shape of ears are a very common anomaly. Ears can be
- too large
- too small
- excessively pinned back
- not to mention the deformities of the parts of the ear themselves.
Ear surgery otoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure to reshape the ears. A variety of different techniques and approaches may be used to reshape congenital prominence in ears or to restore damaged ears, such as torn earlobes. Each individual cosmetic patient seeking ear surgery otoplasty is unique both in terms of the appearance of their ears and expectations for results following ear surgery otoplasty. It is important that you fully discuss your expectations with Dr. Tavallali prior to surgery.
The ear is surgically divided into a number of separate portions that require specific procedures. These include the
- Anti helix
- Ear lobe
Ear surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia in my office. Recovery from otoplasty is quick and takes a few days. A head bandage is necessary for a few weeks after the ear surgery, though final healing may take months for the selling to disappear.
