Typically, the procedure is performed as an outpatient procedure and takes between 2-3 hours depending on the number of ancillary procedures performed. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
There is some pain associated with the procedure that is comparable to muscle soreness; Any discomfort is controlled well by oral pain medication.
Typically, the results of the surgery last forever as long as you maintain a normal weight. If you gain weight the areas of liposuction may get larger but so will all other areas of your body; so it is a comparative improvement that will last.
Patients recover from the initial effects of the surgery within three days. There will, however, be swelling, discoloration, and restricted activity for at least two weeks. By the third week, patients can resume exercise. Temporary effects may include tightness, irregularities, numbness, and weakness of muscles. Scars will take several months to a year to improve
What is an Arm Lift?
Arm lift is a cosmetic surgery to improve arm shape. It helps body appearance by suctioning excess fat from the arm and then removing the excess flabby skin. Each individual has different fat accumulations based on sex, race, age, and heredity. The amount of fat and skin removed is determined by patient’s wishes, my recommendations, and limited by medical safety. Small tubes called cannulae are placed under the skin after a solution to stop bleeding and give anesthesia is injected. Fat is suctioned through these tubes, and the excess skin excised in a small incision in the arm pit. A binder or garment is sometimes necessary for a few weeks after surgery to compress skin.
Surgery in Surgery center
Arm lift is performed under general anesthesia in a surgery center. The more areas of liposuction the more the time needed but typically it takes 2-3 hours.
You need to have someone stay with you the night after liposuction surgery and can usually resume normal activities except exercise in 2-4 days. The cost for an arm lift includes the operating room fee and all of your follow-up visits.
